Lightning Minerals launches Phase 3 program to define maiden Warby tungsten drill targets

Lightning Minerals (ASX:L1M) has begun Phase 3 soil sampling at its 100%-owned Warby Tungsten Project in North Queensland, aiming to sharpen a series of open tungsten anomalies ahead of a maiden drilling program. The company has already sent 162 soil samples to ALS Laboratory in Townsville, with assays due in October, while a further 100 samples are being collected. Seven quartz-vein and wall-rock samples have also gone to UNSW for mineralogical study.

The work builds on Phase 2 reconnaissance, which pointed to known quartz-wolframite veins potentially forming part of a broader vein swarm beyond the historical workings. Phase 3 will infill and extend the existing soil grid across anomalies still open to the northeast, southwest, north and west, sampling at 25-metre intervals on lines spaced 125 metres apart, to help rank and define initial drill targets. Managing director Troy Brice said the program is "designed to refine and sharpen our targeting" ahead of drilling.

Once assays are back, Lightning plans to combine them with the UNSW findings and continue assessing the broader Lyndbrook Complex, with further work potentially including drainage sampling along the Angore Granite contact, LiDAR interpretation and trenching before drill targets are finalised. Warby sits alongside the company's Mt Turner project and its Western Australian gold assets within its wider critical minerals strategy.
