Lightning strikes while tungsten is hot
Lightning Minerals' Warby tungsten project has emerged unexpectedly, after field crews exploring for copper-gold at Mt Turner stumbled on unrecorded pre-WWI tungsten workings nearby. Rock chip sampling has returned up to 5.5% tungsten within soil anomalies now spanning over 4 square kilometres and still open in all directions. A third-phase sampling program is underway, with a maiden tungsten resource targeted for late 2027.
Mt Turner remains the flagship, with a maiden gold resource targeted this year as a step toward a longer-term 1-million-ounce goal and potential copper discovery. Managing director Troy Brice, who joined in April, has been repositioning Lightning from lithium toward gold, copper and critical minerals. The stock has risen around 33% over the past week on the tungsten news, valuing the company at roughly $6 million.
